First bred in 2008, Cannatonic quickly became the darling of the medical marijuana field due to its exceptionally high levels of CBD. Since this earthy strain has low levels of THC, it’s ideal for new users or patients interested in a mellow, non-psychoactive smoke.

Growing Cannatonic Strain Seeds

Cannatonic is a hybrid cannabis strain that’s 50% Indica and 50% Sativa. It was created by Spanish seed bank Resin Seeds and has won multiple awards. This particular strain is a cross between MK Ultra and G13 Haze. Cannatonic is known for its high CBD content and low THC content. The THC to CBD ratio is nearly 1:1, making it a very popular choice for medical marijuana patients.

THC levels range from 7-15% on average. This low THC content makes Cannatonic a good choice for those who want to enjoy the benefits of cannabis without the psychoactive high. CBD levels are much higher in Cannatonic, ranging from 10-12%, making this a suitable strain for those who want to treat medical conditions like pain, inflammation, anxiety, and seizures. (Warning: Never consume cannabis for treating medical conditions before consulting a doctor!)

Without Cannatonic seeds, CBD might not have gone mainstream. Yes, we realize that’s a daring statement, but Cannatonic is a pretty influential strain. Heck, it’s hard to know whether the breeders at Resin Seeds knew just how groundbreaking Cannatonic would be once they successfully crossed MK Ultra and G13 Haze. After placing for the High Times Cannabis Cup in 2008, this woodsy hybrid drew international attention to CBD’s medicinal potential. With CBD levels as high as 15 percent, Cannatonic is a fantastic choice for home growers who want a relaxing smoke without feeling super stoned.

This strain has a woody, earthy taste with hints of citrus. The effects are not intense, and they are very relaxing and calming.

Although Cannatonic is a great strain for first-time smokers, it’s not the best strain for beginner cultivators. Growers should have experience cultivating a few easier indicas before planting their first Cannatonic seeds.

Unfortunately, Cannatonic seeds aren’t naturally mold-resistant. Cultivators will need to keep a vigilant eye on this strain, especially when the flowering time rolls around. Home-growers should also be familiar with low-intensity training and pruning to get the highest yields from their marijuana seeds.
Since Cannatonic is so prone to mold, it’s far easier to grow indoors so growers could control the humidity and airflow. Only grow Cannatonic seeds outdoors if you live in a reliably dry & sunny Mediterranean zone.

The best medium for this strain is hydroponics, but it can also be grown in soil. When growing in hydroponics, the roots will have access to more oxygen, which will lead to faster growth. Oxygen is important because it helps the plant to absorb nutrients from the water. When growing in soil, it is important to use a high-quality organic soil mix.

The flowering time for this strain is 70-77 days and it can be grown indoors or outdoors. When grown indoors, growers can expect to yield up to 1.8 ounces per square foot (500 grams per square meter). When grown outdoors, growers can expect to yield up to 15 ounces (425 grams) per plant.

Anyone who wants to buy Cannatonic seeds should take a look at the CBD rich cannabis seeds now available on Dutch Seeds Shop. Whatever seeds are ordered from our online catalog, we promise to send them to growers’ doorstep in ultra-discreet packaging.

Cannatonic Preferred Climate and Conditions

Cannatonic is a hybrid cannabis strain that was specifically bred to be low in THC and high in CBD. This makes it a popular choice for medical marijuana patients or anyone looking for the therapeutic benefits of cannabis without the psychoactive effects. Cannatonic can be grown indoors or outdoors, but it prefers a warm, dry, sunny climate.

Indoor

Cannatonic plants are moderately easy to grow and can be cultivated using a variety of methods. However, it’s probably best to start with indoor growing because it’s easier to control temperature and humidity levels. Cannatonic plants grow to be about 3 to 4 feet tall, so for indoor growing, growers will need to provide enough space for their mature weed plants. It’s recommended that growers dedicate at least one square foot per Cannatonic cannabis plant – this way, they’ll have enough room to grow into healthy specimens before harvesting!

Cannatonic strain is not a beginner strain, so growers must apply some techniques for indoor cultivation to produce a successful crop of marijuana. For example, Cannatonic plants grow vigorously, especially during the vegetative stage. Therefore, indoor growers should encourage lateral growth and air circulation by bending and super cropping their Cannatonic marijuana plants! Bend the stem while they are still young (before 10-15 days of flowering). If possible, super-crop the weed plants by bending and tying the largest branches to a support structure at about two-thirds of their length (during the same period). These techniques encourage more lateral growth than vertical growth, so cultivators end up with extra-large colas!

Outdoor

Cannatonic cannabis seeds are a great choice for outdoor growers. The plant is quite resilient and can easily withstand outdoor conditions. The Cannatonic will reach maturity and be ready for harvest in late September or early October when grown outdoors. As with most other cannabis strains, Cannatonic plants prefer a warm, dry climate with plenty of direct sunlight. However, growers in milder climates can still expect a healthy crop of buds if they provide the plants with plenty of water and fertilize them regularly. To get the most out of the outdoor Cannatonic crop, make sure to give the plants plenty of space to grow (at least one square foot per plant).

Yield

Cannatonic is a high-yielding strain that produces large, resinous flowers with a pungent aroma. These plants will get relatively tall, so be prepared to stake and trellis them. Growing indoors, you can expect to get 1.4 to 1.8 ounces per square foot planted (equals 400 grams to 550 grams per square meter) of growing space using a 12-12 lighting schedule. Outdoors, expect 12 to 15 ounces per plant in a Mediterranean climate that harvests in late September to early October.

Cannatonic Flowering Time

Cannatonic takes approximately 70 to 77 days to flower. This is a long flowering time, so be patient!

Feeding schedule is important during this time as the plant will be developing its buds. Make sure to give the Cannatonic plants a high-quality nutrient mix and monitor the pH levels of the soil or growing medium. Keep an eye out for any nutrient deficiencies and act quickly to fix them! A lack of nutrients can cause the plants to produce smaller buds, so it’s important to make sure they’re getting everything they need.

The Cannatonic strain produces a yield of about 12 to 15 ounces per square yard. A good rule of thumb is to expect a yield of about 1.5 grams per watt of light. So, when using a 600-watt HPS light, growers can expect a yield of about 9 ounces.
